Don’t try to beat the 5% house edge

Everyone knows that no matter what you do, you can’t beat the 5% house edge.  Each roll is individual of itself, however regardless, I like to count spins and base my last bet on the previous numbers.

My friend sits around and waits for a certain 12 to go 5 times without hitting.  He then martingales on that 12 until he bets $320 (5, 10, 20, 40, 80, 160, 320).  His rational is that the odds of that 12 not hitting 12 times in a row are very minuscule.  Although he is right, the truth is is that it happens more often than you think, and I have reason to believe that it may not be the best way to go about it.

No matter what, you’re still giving the house a 5% edge.  You’re odds of hitting that 12 are like 31.5% and the house pays off at 2-1.

My friend has made over $2000 on this system, however all he would need to do is lose it once to lose $635.  I wouldn’t mind finding 3 friends who aren’t afraid to lose $320 and all playing this system.  It would be possible for all of us to come out ahead, however it would also be fun to see what happens.

I wouldn’t advise doing that. Your friend is walking a dangerous path.
Protecting your winnings is the only smart move and martingaleing is
not smart. He should quit that method while he is ahead.

Although I dont agree how your friend plays, I do have a question.

“Everyone knows that no matter what you do, you can’t beat the 5% house edge” >>> Are you speaking for EVERYONE on the planet or only yourself?  Ken

Unless you have some extremely crazy strategy, I speak humbly in saying that I believe it is impossible. This is because the 0 and 00 are not on the outside bets at all.
